Fira is a privacy-first, open-source project management tool designed with your data ownership in mind. This privacy policy explains how we handle your information — or rather, how we don't handle it, because your data stays with you.
Our Privacy Commitment
Zero-Knowledge Architecture: Fira is built on a fundamental principle — we never see, collect, or have access to your project data. Everything stays on your device or your own infrastructure.
Local Mode: All project data, tasks, and files are stored locally on your device as markdown files. Nothing is transmitted to external servers.
Self-Hosted Mode: When you deploy Fira on your own server or hosting provider, you maintain complete control. Your data lives on infrastructure you manage.
No Analytics or Telemetry: We don't track how you use Fira. No usage statistics, no behavioral analytics, no "improvement metrics."
No Cookies or Trackers: Our landing page and application don't use cookies, tracking pixels, or any third-party analytics tools.
Data Storage & Ownership
Your data is stored exclusively in locations you control:
Local File System: Projects and tasks are stored as human-readable markdown files on your device
Your Own Server: Deploy Fira on any infrastructure you control — no data ever touches our systems
Your Git Repository: If you use Git integration, your data syncs to your chosen repository (GitHub, GitLab, etc.)
Your Cloud Storage: Optionally sync files to cloud storage services under your control
Since all data is stored as plain text markdown files, you can read, modify, export, or migrate your data at any time without special tools or vendor lock-in.
Third-Party Services
If you choose to deploy Fira using third-party platforms, their privacy policies apply to the hosting infrastructure:
Platform Providers: Railway, Render, Heroku, Vercel, or other hosting services have their own privacy policies
Version Control: If you use Git integration with GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket, their terms and privacy policies apply
Your Responsibility: Review the privacy policies of any third-party services you choose to integrate
Important: Fira itself does not send your data to these platforms — you explicitly choose to deploy there and control what data is stored.
Open Source Transparency
Fira is fully open-source under the MIT License. This means:
